GRUPO INTERSECTORIAL COZUMEL ISLAND

The G. I. (for its acronym in Spanish Grupo Intersectorial) is a multi-sectorial group involving different decision makers of the tourism industry, business, government, civil associations and cruise lines, all interested stakeholders in the improve management of cruise/tourism in Cozumel.

We work together to foster Destination stewardship and promote the sustainability of Cozumel as a major cruise port and tourism attraction.

ad Objective

To secure improvements in the management of the impacts generated by tourism in the coastal marine ecosystems of Cozumel, institutionalizing sustainable destination management policies and practices.

Strategy:
To achieve this goal, leaders of tourism and cruise industry will work together to put into action the recommendations produced during Phase I of the "Plan of Action for the shared management of a cruise ship destination."
